The Office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research & Innovation) UMK serves as the Strategic Driver for UMK30 Strategic Plan – Thrust 4, namely the Strengthening of the Research, Development, Innovation, Commercialisation and Strategic Networking Ecosystem to Achieve a Sustainable Impactful Economy.

To drive Innovation, Commercialisation and Strategic Networking towards a Sustainable and Impactful University Economy.
The organisational structure of the DVC (Research & Innovation) includes the administration and finance division, which supports the operational functions of the office, as well as several service offices that oversee Research, Commercialisation, Industrial Networking, and Income Generation functions. In addition, the Office also supervises the Centres of Excellence (CoE) and Research Centres (RC) at UMK.
Overall, the Office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research & Innovation) UMK plays a central role in realising Thrust 4 of the UMK30 Strategic Plan by focusing on strengthening the research ecosystem and driving the university’s innovation agenda. Through its strategic objectives, this office aims to build a holistic and sustainable research system while enhancing innovation, commercialisation, and strategic networking activities to support the university’s high-impact and sustainable economic development.
